Break up your hiking adventures in the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park with a picnic at one of the region's pristine waterfalls. Take the road from Halls Gap to Wartook Valley to see the iconic MacKenzie Falls, one of the largest and most spectacular waterfalls in Victoria. Watch the water crashing over huge cliffs into a deep pool, sending fine sprays of rainbow mist high into the air above a stunning gorge. Take a short detour for sweeping views of MacKenzie River from Broken Falls Lookout, or venture along the walking track to see Fish Falls cascade 60 metres over terraced rocks.
Head north to Beehive Falls to see the water drop 25 metres into the rock pools below, wander from Wonderland to the serene Splitters Falls, or take the fern-laden trail south to Silverband Falls, just fifteen minutes' drive from Halls Gap.
Visiting Mount Buangor State Park? Don't miss the magical walk through blue gum forest to reach Ferntree and Cascade falls. The Hamilton area is home to two waterfalls fed by the Wannon River – Wannon Falls and Nigretta Falls.
