A park teeming with life
Encounter the bandicoots, wallabies and parrots that inhabit Mornington Peninsula National Park. The coastal cliffs, scrubby dunes and beaches, banksia woodlands, and wetlands dominate the landscape from Sorrento to Portsea, Flinders and Cape Schanck.
Prime locations and fascinating history
Make your way to the top of Arthurs Seat to revel in views of the peninsula's golden beaches below and the Melbourne skyline in the distance. Head east to spot koalas on French Island or travel south to walk along Cape Schanck's rugged cliffs as you overlook some of Australia's most treacherous coastline.
Walk to the tip of the narrow headland in Point Nepean National Park and explore the military installations and tunnels at the fort, an important defence post from the 1880s to World War II. Walk or cycle past outstanding coastal scenery and panoramic views of Bass Strait, the Rip and Port Phillip Bay.
Undersea communities
Float, dive, snorkel or swim (but don't fish) in Port Phillip Bay marine parks containing important fish breeding and nursery areas, established to safeguard valuable marine habitats and species.
Join a tour and swim with dolphins and seals in the bay, dive down to the wreck of the HMAS Canberra, or get close to colonies of seahorses and sea dragons on a snorkelling expedition.
